Leatherette. Etat : Near Fine. First Edition. A clean, tight, sound copy of this good-looking book, with text entirely in French. The covers are flexible and could be described equally as softcover or hardcover. They are bound in a green synthetic material that suggests snakeskin. This copy has almost no signs of wear and none of prior use. The book has been subjected to pressure on the lower front corner, which has indented every page, but no text is affected and the problem is not severe. A foreword by Jean Lepine explains that the author's motive in cataloguing the tropical plants of France was as part of research into expanding vegetal resources as a way to keep food production on pace with population growth. 3500 species and varieities are catalogued, and there are 6 color plates and 5 plates with sketches showing characteristics of different families.
