Tanning heavier to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Moderate cracking to gutters and hinges exposing netting but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has light tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

Foxing more noticeable towards the start and end of the book. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper. Boards have slight water damage to upper sections and spine; jacket partly stuck to it. Otherwise, moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Mildly dusty overall. Clipped jacket is noticeably water stained and warped. Some edgewear with chips, tears and creasing. Small areas of loss to spine ends. Jacket is slightly rubbed and marked overall.

Green boards have a patch of fading at the base of the spine where the jacket is damaged and a small dent in the top edge of the rear panel. Page edges browned with light spotting. Webbing exposed between frontispiece and title page but binding otherwise reasonably tight. Pages a little browned but otherwise unmarked. Jacket has a large piece missing from the bottom left hand corner of the front panel and at the base of the spine. Light chipping along bottom edge of rear panel. Price -clipped with a few small edge nicks.

No date, but gift note on ffep has a date of March 1950. Anne offers South African twins an opportunity for two years' schooling in England at her expense.
