Herge. FLIGHT 714, printed by Methuen, 1968, First Edition in English, UK, Hardback, Rare Tintin First edition book. This the twenty-second volume of The Adventures of Tintin, the comics series by Belgian cartoonist Herge. When originally published in first edition in English by Methuen, the volume was titled Flight 714; since the series' republication by Egmont Publishing, it has been referred to " Flight 714 to Sydney", corresponding to the original French title. This is the original 1968 1st UK Edition printed by Methuen 1968, with the short title. Harry Thompson praised Flight 714 to Sydney, believing that with it, Hergé was at the "top of his form".[ Thompson also noted that the scene of the extraterrestrial spacecraft bore similarities with the depiction of the alien ship in the 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind, highlighting that the film's director, Steven Spielberg, was a known fan of The Adventures of Tintin. Cover is very nice with minor wear only and some minor wear to corners, rear cover is great except for small damage to 1 corner, spine is good having been expertly repaired with red tape. Inner end pages have some scuffs/small tears to center. The Pages are very nice throughout with minor yellowing, no scribbles or inscriptions throughout. Very Good condition.

Herge. Tintin - Explorers on the Moon. Britain 1959. Published by Methuen, First Edition in English. Hardcover. Binding has minimal wear. No missing pages. Good to very good condition. Some scuff marks to cover boards but still in very good condition. Explorers on the Moon (French: On a marché sur la Lune) is the 7th volume of The Adventures of Tintin, the comics series by Belgian cartoonist Hergé. Completing a story arc begun in the preceding volume, Destination Moon, the narrative tells of the young reporter Tintin, his dog Snowy, and friends Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, and Thomson and Thompson who are aboard humanity's first manned rocket mission to the Moon. Harry Thompson noted that Explorers on the Moon was widely regarded as Hergé's "greatest artistic achievement",[39] describing the entire moon adventure as "a technical masterpiece" as a result of its "uncannily accurate" depiction of the Moon.[40] Thompson expressed his opinion that Explorers could be compared to the work of science-fiction writers Jules Verne and H. G. Wells. In 1957, the animation company Belvision Studios produced a string of colour adaptations based on Hergé's original comics, adapting eight of the Adventures into a series of daily five-minute episodes. Explorers on the Moon was the second to be adapted in the second animated series; it was directed by Ray Goossens and written by Greg, a well-known cartoonist who was to become editor-in-chief of Tintin magazine.
