A propos de ce titre

Synopsis :

Simple, yet profound. 101 Tales of Wisdom as told by Yogiji Maharaj communicates timeless messages in an accessible form. Yogiji Maharaj, one of the modern era's greatest Hindu sages and spiritual luminaries, showcases the value of a virtuous life through these tales.

Many of the colorful stories expose the reader to an entirely new world populated by giants and dwarfs, cowards and heroes, gods and talking animals. Drawn either from folklore originating in India, stories embedded within the history of Yogiji Maharaj s religious tradition, or his own life experiences, these tales take the reader on an exotic journey. Along the way, the reader will meet Lindiyo, a lion that thinks it s a goat, a thief incapable of lying (which, of course, makes for an intriguing story!), and a bee and worm who go exploring a garden together. Like Western fables of the tortoise and the hare, these stories draw on an unconventional cast of characters to showcase penetrating messages in an entertaining manner.

Yogiji Maharaj's tales are bound together through their common embrace of values, such as hard work, humility, altruism, and courage. Of course, each and every tale has its own distinctive flavor: some are introspective, while others are instructive; some teach through laughs, while others teach through metaphor. Ultimately, whether you re looking for a set of inspirational bedtime stories to share with your child or a set of stories to guide your own life, you cannot go wrong with 101 Tales of Wisdom as told by Yogiji Maharaj.

About the Author:

Yogiji Maharaj, a Hindu guru and spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, is best known for his infectious divine love and inspirational saintliness. Initiated into the monastic order at sixteen, Yogiji Maharaj became the beloved guru of hundreds of thousands around the world. He enchanted the young and old, the illiterate and educated, and the rich and poor with his simplicity, humility, and ecstasy. In fact, hardly a portrait or picture of Yogiji Maharaj can be found where he is not smiling.

His perpetual bliss drew thousands to study his life and discourses, in which these tales repeatedly appear. They are a staple of his teaching style and a truly important contribution to moral and spiritual education.

While Yogiji Maharaj first shared these tales of wisdom, they are presented in their current form through Sadhu Brahmaviharidas, who has translated them from their original Gujarati. Sadhu Brahmaviharidas is a Hindu monk who grew up in the UK, and has spent the last 30 years serving in India under the guidance of his guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
