When Sapphire was little, her father told her a legend about amermaid and a man. Neither could live apart from the other, and one night theman swam down to his Mer love and was never seen again. Oddly, the missing manhad the same name as Sapphy’s dad. Sapphy has begun to think about that legendagain, ever since her father inexplicably vanished one night in his boat. Nowher brother Conor keeps disappearing down by the sea, and Sapphy feels the sameinexorable pull, a pull that draws her into a world she never dreamed existed.Intoxicating but dangerous, Sapphy’s underwater playground is not always whatit seems, its power forcing her to make a choice beyond imagination—becauseyou can’t just go back and forth between the land and the sea.
A novel of immense power and humanity that captures both a younggirl’s feelings of love and the darkness of a hazardous, adult world, Ingo isa tantalizing first book in what is destined to be a popular, highly acclaimedtrilogy. Ingo will be published around the world starting in September2005 in the UK.
