Etat de la jaquette : Near Fine. 1st Edition. 1st printing of the first Canadian hardcover and true first edition of the Canadian author's second book SIGNED by Kay on the title page with a black pen. Full blue cloth with silver titles and off-white endpapers. The book is tight with sharp corners. Hint of a spine roll. Heel and crown of spine have softened. The exposed bottom page edges have suffered a bump, which has resulted in a short tear to the first 7 preliminary pages and which grows shorter with each page. A short length of paper at the bottom edge of the front paste-down is folded under - a binder error. The jacket is bright, crisp and not priced, as issued. ISBN printed at the bottom edge of the back flap. Bubbling of the laminate along the fore-edge and the spine edge of the front panel. No discoloration. This defect is also apparent at the mid-point of the bottom edge of the back panel. Softening of the jacket at the crown of the spine. Autographed Canadian first printings of The Summer Tree and Tigana are also available from this bookseller, as is a Canadian first of The Darkest Road with a signed bookplate laid in.
