Henry James Jr. was born on April 15, 1843, in New York City. His father, Henry James Sr., was one of the best-known intellectuals of the 19th century. Young Henry was educated reading classic literature and studying with tutors in places like Geneva, London and Paris. When he was nineteen, he attended Harvard Law School, but preferred reading to studying law. He published his first story in 1864 and continued writing from there. In 1903, he wrote “The Ambassadors,” which he considered his masterpiece. “The Turn of the Screw” is his most famous. Eventually he settled in England near the outbreak of World War I, actually becoming a citizen in 1915. He died from complication from a stroke on February 28, 1916, at the age of 62, in London. He was cremated and interred in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Présentation de l'éditeur :
