The desire to return to England for the Bamboo Pipers' summer school led 52-year-old grandmother Ann Gash to set sail from Sydney in her 7.3-metre Folkboat 'Ilimo' to circumnavigate the world. Despite facing tremendous challenges, including stolen equipment and poorly repaired rigging, Ann reached England for the 1976 Bamboo Pipers' summer school, and in December 1977 sailed triumphantly back into Sydney Harbour. The author describes battling 10-metre waves in fierce storms, almost being run down by a supertanker and being surrounded by a school of sharks while becalmed. At other times she spent peaceful hours playing her bamboo flute to schools of dolphins. Extremely scarce. Note: Ann Gash died in 2006. N° de réf. du libraire E11028
