LightStudio is a training simulator for lighting designers in film and TV. Designed as an educational learning tool the CD-ROM is easy to use with high quality video, sound and graphics. LightStudio lets the user prepare their own lighting designs in real time without needing an expensive studio. The teaching is both fun and basic, whilst the programme is easy to understand and user-friendly. LightStudio is ideal for the individual trainee, or for use in classroom situation with projection on a large screen.
LightStudio is a simulator for training lighting design and practical exercises in a variety of studio situations. Although the program provides a high level of professional training, the user needs no previous knowledge of either computers of lighting.
The simulator part of LightStudio features four studios in which the trainee can create his or her own individual lighting designs. The program contains about 200 lamps of different kinds. These are shown on a lighting plan from which the trainee selects the lamps he or she wishes to work with. Each studio has a fader console for turning the selected lamps on and off, and from which they can be regulated to obtain a suitable degree of brightness.
Depending on the immediate requirements, the trainee can apply lighting in either colour or black and white.
Since each studio offers an unlimited number of lighting possibilities, LightStudio is not only an educational tool but also an aid for experimentation and creativity. It is ideal for the individual trainee, or for use in classroom situation with projection on a large screen.
The trainee is given a variety of studio situations, such as with a program presenter, and interview with two participants, the final scene of a play (Ibsen's "A Doll's House"), and mood lighting for both daytime and night time.
