The Canadian Section of the Society of Chemical Industry has published under various titles in pamphlet form, collections of papers which have been read at meetings held during the sessions of the Section. Since much valuable information has been presented in this way, the Publication Committee of the Society of Chemical Industry has been pleased to sanction these issues. The present publication is issued for the purpose of filling a need that has been recognized some considerable time for a classified list of the Chemists and Chemical Engineers of Canada, together with those who are associated in a technical way with industries in which Chemistry is in some manner involved. An attempt has been made to render the list and classification as comprehensive as possible, and while it is realized that it is incomplete on account of the impossibility within a reasonable time of reaching all chemical workers, it is hoped that it is sufficiently representative to be of value as a reference, both for the Government and for all who may wish to avail themselves of the skill and knowledge represented by the trained chemical workers of this country. A ny omissions, it is hoped, will be brought to the attention of the Secretary of the Society in order that they may be included in a later revised edition. The method of classification that has been used in the arrangement of the names has been based upon that adopted in the Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry in accordance with the publication of its articles and abstracts. The twenty-five main subdivisions are as follows: I. General Plant; Machinery. XIII. Paints; Pigments; Varnishes; II. Fuel: Gas; Heating; Lighting. Resins. XIV. India Rubber; Gutta Percha. III.-T arand Tar Products. XV.-B one; Horn; Glue. IV. Colouring Matters and Dyes. XVI. Soils; Fertilizers. V. Fibres; Textiles; Cellulose; XVII. Sugar; Starches
