Colour illustrated dustwrapper with black and red titles to the front panel and backstrip. Colour photograph of Ronald Biggs to the rear dustwrapper panel. The story of Ronald Biggs and his many years of travelling to escape recapture after escaping an English jail in 1965. He participated in "The Crime of the Century" -- The Great Train Robbery in 1963 and its this robbery, its trial and its aftermath which is at the centre of this book. Bumping and rubbing to the backstrip and to the book corners. Shelf wear to the lower book corners. Rubbing and some marking to the book panels very heavy browning and faint foxing to the text block edges. Browning and some handling marks to the internal text. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the backstrip edges. There is a 0.5 " tear to the top left-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel and a 1.5 " tear to the lower left-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel and a split in the front spine gutter, which a previous owner has supported with tape on the front, tape still in situ. Heavy rubbing, handling marks and yellowing to the dustwrapper panels. Rubbing and creasing to the dustwrapper panels and various nicks and chips are also present. Faint foxing to the verso of the dustwrapper. Black-and-white photograph of the author and Ronald Biggs to the rear fold over panel. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. What makes this copy unusual is not the book but all the extra inserts from newspapers dealing with Ronald Biggs and his wife after their divorce. Shelf wear to the lower book edges and rubbing to the other book edges. Browning and staining to the text block edges. The internal pages of the book are brown and the spine has been over opened between pages 6 and 7 and underlying webbing is visible. Dustwrapper is quite shabby. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and each of the corner has a small split. Chipping, with lost to both the top and bottom dustwrapper edges. The spine has become sun faded.
