Darrol Stinton MBE, PhD, CEng, FRAeS, FRINA, MIMechE, RAF(Retd) was born in New Zealand and grew up in England. He is qualified test pilot and aeronautical engineer who worked in the design offices of the Blackburn and De Havilland aircraft companies before joining the RAF.
His test flying spanned 35 years and more than 340 types of aircraft, first as an experimental test pilot at Farnborough; then 20 years as airworthiness certification test pilot for the UK Civil Aviation Authority on light aeroplanes and seaplanes, before turning freelance.
He has lectured regularly at the Empire Test Pilots′ School, Loughborough University, the Royal Aeronautical Society (of which he is pas Vice President), and the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. His company specializes in cross–fertilization between aircraft and marine craft design and operation.
The comprehensive final chapter is devoted to practical worked examples of designed projects, illustrating points made earlier, introduced for guidance or for the purpose of criticism. Fully illustrated with photographs, diagrams and tables throughout.

The text supported by numerous line drawings, graphs, tables and some photographic reproductions. An ink library stamp to the tail of the front endpaper - no other signs of library markings to the book or the overlying dust jacket. The errata slip has been sellotaped (scotch tape) to the front endpaper. The head and tail of the spine and the front two board corners a little bumped or turned in with some associated creasing - most light to the overlying jacket. The jacket has not been price-clipped - it has some shelf wear and some edge wear. A very good, clean, tight copy in very good minus jacket.
