Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes plant layout and flow patterns of a typical stationary custom feed mill. It does so to determine how such operations would function within the industry and thereby present a standard of comparison for custom mill management to analyze their costs and incomes. Data was collected in a 1957 survey of over 100 midwestern custom feed mills and is used to provide an analysis of how such a mill could operate effectively. The author finds that many custom mills fail to completely cover operating expenses and provides insights into what levels of grinding, mixing, and bagging are necessary for a custom mill to break even or turn a profit. The information in this book provides a tool for helping custom mill management to maximize the revenue from their operations and improve efficiency.
