Description du livre Hardcover. Etat : VG+. Etat de la jaquette : VG+. Photos, Maps (illustrateur). Second. The sub-title of this photographic study of Scott's last Antarctic expedition "Through The Antarctic Camera of Herbert Ponting" gives a foretaste of the brilliant and evocative photos taken on this ill-fated venture. The content is divided into six subjacts: The Voyage South; The Landing at Cape Evans; Winter Quarters 1911; Dogs and Ponies of the Expeditions: Wildlife of McMurdo Sound and The South Pole. Ponting's amazing pictures have been used in many Antartrctic/Scott publications but seldom such a large range of them between two covers, with some not previously published. Ann Savours, a polar historian, made the selection of Ponting photos and compiled the text that accompanies each section. Scott's son, Sir Peter Scott, provided the introduction. First published in 1974, this edition the following year. 160 pages, b/w photos throughout plus four "Fascinating examples of early colour photography" taken by Ponting on the expedition, few maps.
