Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. First Edition. "Bioelectricity: A Quantitative Approach" by Robert Plonsey and Roger C. Barr is a hardcover edition, 2nd printing (July 1991) published by Plenum Press. The book is in Good+ condition. The covers are well-preserved with only light rubbing to corners and indented spine ends. The binding is square and tight. There are two small paperclip impressions visible at the top of the text block. The front edge of the text block bears the former owner's name printed in large block letters. There is light abrasion to the front flyleaf and front paste-down (inside the front cover). The interior pages are sparsely marked on fewer than ten pages, otherwise clean and bright. This text serves as an introduction to electrophysiology, employing a quantitative approach. The initial chapter provides a summary of the mathematics required in the subsequent chapters. The second chapter offers a concise overview of the general principles of electrical fields and current flow, applicable to biological environments. The core material of the book spans the third to seventh chapters, covering topics such as the description of membrane voltages, action potentials, propagation of action potentials, and the response of fibers to artificial stimuli. The book delves into the study of cardiac and neural electrophysiology in subsequent chapters, offering a detailed exploration of the application of fundamental principles to these areas. It also includes a chapter on recent developments in membrane biophysics. The study of electrophysiology has evolved rapidly, thanks to precise experimental studies and the development of increasingly accurate theoretical concepts. This book provides a comprehensive foundation for understanding various electrophysiological problems. The book will be carefully packaged for shipment, and an USPS electronic tracking number will be issued free of charge. If you need more information or pictures, feel free to contact me. Buch. Etat : Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -This text is an introduction to electrophysiology, following a quantitative approach. The first chapter summarizes much of the mathematics required in the following chapters. The second chapter presents a very concise overview of the general principles of electrical fields and current flow, mostly es tablished in physical science and engineering, but also applicable to biolog ical environments. The following five chapters are the core material of this text. They include descriptions of how voltages come to exist across membranes and how these are described using the Nernst and Goldman equations (Chapter 3), an examination of the time course of changes in membrane voltages that produce action potentials (Chapter 4), propagation of action potentials down fibers (Chapter 5), the response of fibers to artificial stimuli such as those used in pacemakers (Chapter 6), and the voltages and currents produced by these active processes in the surrounding extracellular space (Chapter 7). The subsequent chapters present more detailed material about the application of these principles to the study of cardiac and neural electrophysiology, and include a chapter on recent developments in mem brane biophysics. The study of electrophysiology has progressed rapidly because of the precise, delicate, and ingenious experimental studies of many investigators. The field has also made great strides by unifying the numerous experimental observations through the development of increasingly accurate theoretical concepts and mathematical descriptions. The application of these funda mental principles has in turn formed a basis for the solution of many different electrophysiological problems. 328 pp. Englisch. N° de réf. du vendeur 9780306428944
