More than Meets the Eye is an essential text for the study of media. It introduces all the key concepts and debates which today's students need to know, illuminating them with examples from across the different media. Taking account of the revised media syllabuses, this new edition incorporates the latest research on representation, on 'identity' and 'difference' and on news and ideology. It also explores the latest advances in digital TV, showing how these have affected our view of the media. Examples cover new media and film as well as TV, radio, advertising and the press.
Study aids include: activities taking account of coursework requirements in the A level syllabus; useful quotations; key questions, to check understanding of sections and to act as potential essay titles; the use of shorter, more manageable sections and summary statements to aid revision; reading lists and lists of resources for media students, with commentary.
