This is the eagerly awaited sequel to 'The Jewel in the Lotus', Allen Edwardes' historical survey of the sexual culture of the East. This is a scrutiny of the erotic practices of people whose behavior is all but unknown to most scholars of the West. This volume discusses in detail, and to an extent seldom approached in sexologic literature, the whole range of sexual practices found among the people studied. The more common practices are examined, but the authors go beyond this to explore the orgiastic rites of sexual cults, the religiously and otherwise motivated mutilation of both male and female genitalia so widely practiced in the East, the absorbingly interesting subjects of Eastern bi-sexuality, sadomasochism, and sexual fatalism, and many other 'curious' aspects hitherto known only to a few scholars of the Orient.
