Suitable for children in Year 1 (age 5), Not Yet, Nathan! is from the Cambridge Reading genre strand Narrative Recounts, a strand which motivates children to explore their personal responses and make links to their own experiences. Each story in this set of nine is a true and significant event from someone's childhood. While some of the stories are set in modern Britain, others take place in the 1930s or 1940s in locations as diverse as Hong Kong and Trinidad. Not Yet, Nathan!, retold by Sue Perry and Jane Rose, tells the story of Nathan Smith. The story takes place on a hot day in the summer of 1993. At that time, Nathan and his family were living on a permanent travellers' site in Peterborough. Narrative recounts also provide excellent models for children's own writing. This pack of 6 is for guided group reading.
