Présentation de l'éditeur :
Oasis is well understood to be a bright, refreshing spot, in a barren and sandy desert. How far this may be considered true of the Leaves of Friendship, compared to the many valuable and meritorious works already before the public, designed for the gentler sex, the compiler leaves for its readers to judge. We do not, however, in this compilation, assume to be first in rank, or last in merit. We have culled from many of the flowers, and have endeavored to form such an arrangement of prose and poetry, combined with moral and religious sentiment, as, we trust, will not only amuse and be acceptable to the reader, but that the good impressions left on the mind may have a tendency to elevate, and stimulate, to higher and more intellectual attainments.
