Description du livre Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. States to copyright page "First Published in 1982 by Faber and Faber Limited"; no additional printings mentioned. So: the first printing of Ishiguro's first novel, in gray cloth boards with bright gilt titles to spine; NO dust jacket. Stamped in red ink to copyright page "Library of Congress / May 11 1982 / Copy ____ (blank) / Copyright Office," below which is stamped in black what we presume is an acquisition number "TX 920-953." Then stamped a second time in red to FFE: "Surplus -- Library of Congress Duplicate." "Pale View of Hills" was released in the U.S. by Putnam on April 16, 1982. The British release by Faber was also in early 1982; we haven't been able to determine if both were released the same day. At any rate, it's standard practice for a publisher to send two copies of any new book to the Library of Congress on or shortly after the date of first publication, to establish copyright. This would appear to be the second of those two copyright copies, received in Washington May 11, 1982 and recently disposed of by the Library of Congress after 40 years as "surplus." NO lending-library attachments found, no other stampings or cross-outs. 183 pp. Reduced from $800. N° de réf. du vendeur 010884
