He returned to graduate school on the GI Bill for three months, briefly worked for a congressman, then, in part because he was a Vietnam Veteran, obtained employment with the federal government. In 2001, he received a 30-year service pin.PAUL A. NEWMANHaving dropped out of Bowling Green State University for lack of money and grades, Paul worked in a factory as a grinder. Seeing no future there, he joined the army three months before his projected draft date. After qualifying for Airborne, he was assigned to Ft. Bragg in January, 1968.
