Présentation de l'éditeur :
Head Lands is a milestone in the development of Philip Quinlan's distinctive poetic voice, which is rapidly clarifying itself as an original of major importance. Reading these poems as a group in this chapbook has given me that thrill of excited recognition one feels on discovering one of those rare works of art which truly break new ground. These poems are astonishing marriages of coruscating verbal music with vigorously penetrating poetic vision, where the poet's "fingers frame the shapes of seas / as headlands hold / the seas at bay" while he "chart[s] ... / a never never never land" of close observation and metaphysical insight. No one else can write quite like this, and not many as well as this. I am now left waiting impatiently for Mr Quinlan's next collection. ~ Paul Stevens, Editor of The Flea, and The Chimaera
Biographie de l'auteur :
Philip Quinlan lives in England and perpetual hope (the two kind of go together). When not writing poetry he works in Local Government and mysterious ways. He blundered into writing poetry accidentally, but has received generous compensation by way of the good opinion of others whom he admires, as well as: a 2011 Pushcart nomination from The Chimæra for the poem At Sea (for which, thanks to Paul Stevens and Peter Bloxsom), a 2011 Pushcart nomination from Shit Creek Review for the poem The Pier at the End of the World (for which, further thanks to Paul Stevens and his fellow canoeists), and a 2011 Best of the Net nomination from Victorian Violet Press for the poem Returned to Sender (for which, thanks to Karen Kelsay) He is married to a very tolerant wife, and has two children who allege that he is responsible.
