This remarkable presentation was issued the year following Bobby Holcomb's tragic passing in 1991 from cancer. Although Bobby was born in Hawaii of mixed race parentage, he spent his final 15 years in French Polynesia residing on the island of Huahine. Bobby was a musician and artist who embraced the history and traditions of Polynesia through his music and lifestyle but perhaps it was his artistic talent, his bold, colourful style in relating the lore of Oceania that he will be best remembered for. BOBBY VISIONS POLYNESIENNE includes a number of pages of text about the artist all written in French and English. Published in Tahiti in very limited numbers, this "catalogue raisonne" extravagantly features Bobby's work in bold color on glossy stock of substantial weight. The plates are presented one per page each with its corresponding folklore on the opposite page. Likely due to the cost of this monumental tribute, it was not again reissued. Truly illusive publication, VISIONS POLYNESIENNE is rarely available with literally years going between copies being offered for sale on the www. Thus it is with great pleasure that we offer this collector quality copy.
