All of us experience a growth process at some time in our lives. For Ben, an 18-year-old boy from Myanmar starting his studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, the first year of university study will be the most significant year of his life. Sang Mo, his South Korean roommate and classmate, causes him to start re-evaluating his viewpoint of life and people. In addition to Sang Mo, a friendship forms between him and his other classmates; as they share time and themselves and experience the life and culture of Tsinghua and Beijing, their own lives and perspectives change... As Ben realizes, this change is not necessarily for the better or for the worse, it is just change, and nothing can stop this motion. Rivers in the Ocean... We are all part of this larger sea of humanity, and we all share the causes and effects of what happens among all humankind... At the same time, we are all separate beings, keeping ourselves secret and apart from each other. This is a story about Beijing, China, and about individuals from Asia; but at the same time, it is a story that we all share in any place we may live, in some form or another.Biographie de l'auteur :
