This short book in its first form was a lecture delivered to the German Japanese Society in Berlin in 1936, and it appeared in the Magazine Nippon under the title of The Chivalrous Art of Archery. That was a provisional attempt to show the close connection which exists between the art of archery and Zen. It is now a book of very great charm, and has become and established document in its field.
