Description du livre Cloth. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 6th Edition. Hardback. English Furniture. Slight wear to D/J. Price clipped to D/J. The book shows how English furniture design has reflected changes in national taste since the late fifteenth century. The book is divided into ten chapters, the last three having now been revised and rewritten. Opportunity has been taken to increse the number of plates (from twenty-four to forty) and to include many new drawings and illustrations from contemporary sources. It is a comment on the speedy progress of furniture studies however that Chapter V 'Furniture Design under the Architects, 1730-1830', glides from Chippendale to Gillow in two pages. Many names unearthed by Edwards and Jourdain and others should be included (Vile and Cobb, for example). The present book, however, presents a good, balanced introduction with a useful selection of plates. Illustrated with 40 plates and 137 line drawings. 184 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
