The third book in a vibrant, full-colour textbook series tailored to the new format of the Irish Junior Cert exam. This volume is written for students following the Higher level course. Each book in the series includes examples of the new contextualised grammar question, the new layout for the Cluastuiscint question and has extensive notes to help students prepare for the optional Junior Cert oral. There is a strong emphasis on oral work in light of the new Leaving Cert Irish exam. This preparation is necessary whether schools choose to do the Junior Cert optional oral exam or not. Pairwork is incorporated into the oral sections as well as roleplays, groupwork and dramas. to These accentuate the importance of interactive, fun activities for the students where the teacher facilitates the learning of the students in a fun way. There is an emphasis on the recommended Communicative Approach when teaching grammar. Grammar is taught in a contextualised manner in each chapter as it relates to the various topics as well as the extensive grammar section at the back of the book. Topical, student-focused subject matter is included in comprehensions and essays while also giving general vocabulary and phrases at the beginning of essays. A multitude of sample essays, stories and letters are included to help students prepare for the Junior Cert. Essay and story plans are included before sample essays and homework assignments to help students structure their work, especially on long questions such as the essay or story (Question 1, Paper 1).
Biographie de l'auteur :
Caitríona Ní Shúilleabháin teaches Irish and Music in in Mount Anville Secondary School in Goatstown, Co. Dublin. She has been teaching for ten years and has experience in teaching at both post-primary and third level and has worked with Gael Linn, Brú na Páirce and Coláiste Naomh Eoin during the summer months over the years.
