Description :
'One of the most inspiring stories I've ever read'
Jenni Murray
'Inspirational' MAIL ON SUNDAY
'She is an inspiration -- not just for other people who are struggling with terminal illness, but for everyone who ever felt daunted, overwhelmed, or just plain terrified by the hand life has dealt them. THE LUXURY OF TIME is Jane and Mike's dual account of the journey from 'ordinary' to 'heroic' . . . Their honesty is often heartbreaking, but they are also angry, bloody-minded, funny and quite incredibly brave. At the time of writing, Jane is still here. When the sun does go down, this book will stand as a fine record of a life packed with achievement.' Kate Saunders, SUNDAY TIMES
'Inspiring' BELLA
'Hauntingly frank' DAILY MAIL
'Jane Tomlinson has become a household name through her bravery in the face of cancer . . . This book . . . is a story of a family, and of battling against the odds.' SUNDAY EXPRESS
'Having terminal cancer hasn't stopped Jane Tomlinson from becoming a superathelete -- and an inspiration to us all' RADIO TIMES
'It is this sort of unflinching look at how cancer affects a relationship that makes THE LUXURY OF TIME interesting . . . [THE LUXURY OF TIME] has its share of horror . . . but it's mostly a book about love in all its messy, hurtful, swearing-at-each-other-and-then-feeling-bad-about-it glory' SUNDAY HERALD (Glasgow)
'Jand and Mike are ordinary people made extraordinary by their courage. I send them my respect, admiration and prayers.' Vanessa Feltz, DAILY STAR
'The story is cliched in that it is heartwarming and moving, but it is also revealing, funny and very human and made all the more readable for having been written by a married couple with a deep love for each other and their family' Carmel Harrison, CATHOLIC TIMES
'Jane Tomlinson has inspired people across the globe with her physical achievements in the face of terminal cancer . . . Incredibly honest'
YORKSHIRE POST
'Cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson has been an inspiration to millions. She has achieved sporting feats few healthy people have tackled and given hope to many living with terminal illness'
THE JOURNAL (Newcastle)
'Inspiring . . . Hopefully, a runaway success, this is a rare story told with humour and grit by a lady who's anything but a drama queen' DAILY ECHO
“Words like courageous and determined are woefully inadequate to describe Jane and Mike. We’ve never met anyone quite like them and their searing honesty in this book is a tribute to the way they have played the cards fate dealt them.
What is especially unusual about their account of living with terminal cancer is their honesty and openness about the pressures on their relationship with each other and their children and even the financial difficulties it caused.
For any other family going through this trauma, we are sure this book would be an enormous help.” RICHARD AND JUDY
'Jane and Mike tell their moving story with care and a refreshing sense of honesty' H2B
'[Jane] and her husband Mike tell their sotry with honesty and humour'
Sunday Telegraph
'This moving account, written in alternating chapters by Jane and her husband, is told with great humour and complete lack of self pity'
Sunday Times 6/11
Présentation de l'éditeur :
Jane Tomlinson, a mother of three from Leeds, was first diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 26. Despite being given the all clear, in 2000 she learned that the disease had spread to her lungs and bones and there was nothing more the doctors could do. Faced with such devastating news, Jane did not give up. She decided to fight - the life sentence, the disease, and the expectations of living with cancer. Battling fierce pain to complete three London marathons, the Great North Run, and a 2,500 mile bicycle journey 'From Rome to Home', she has raised nearly £1million for charity.
THE LUXURY OF TIME is Jane's story, told with her husband Mike. It is the story of a marriage, of two ordinary people made extraordinary by the courage with which they face their greatest challenge. They tell, in alternating chapters, what life has been like since 1990 when Jane was first diagnosed, how they coped separately and together, how they told their children, how they deal with the physical and emotional pain. With searing honesty and surprising humour, they write about their fears, hopes and ambitions for an uncertain future.
