This collection of over 230 old photographs features the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, from the Victorian era to more recent scenes. Few of the pictures, most of which come from the collections of North Somerset Museum Service, have been published before. the photographs illustrate the changes to the town over the ears, from the elegant regency crecents and terraces, through to the building boom of the early twentieth century and the cahnges brought about by war and modern development. Many streets and shoppingareas are recorded as well as the bustle of the sea front. We see images of both piers, the Grand and Birnbeck, the beach, the parks and the cafes. We also see the people of Weston-super-Mare at work, at school and a tplay. somwe of the town;s well-known traders are featured, including the Clarks Shoe Factory, the Dorothy Sweet Shop on the corner of Palmer Street and fred thron's hardware shop in Meadow Street. This book will evoke many feelings of nostalgia and will be enjoyed by all who know and love this popular seaside resort.
