Biographie de l'auteur :
Ron and Valerie Taylor are Australians whose underwater photography for Hollywood films such as Jaws has won them international acclaim. They have dedicated their lives to conservation and shark protection. Stephen Savage is a biologist, natural history author, lecturer and associate member of the Institute of Biology. He worked at the Brighton Sealife Centre as Senior Aquarist, for seven years, and as Education Officer, for six years. He is currently Education Coordinator for the River Ocean Foundation, developing educational materials and working with children, adults and in teacher training. He is also involved in a local study of sea mammals, which is part of a larger monitoring programme run by the Sea Watch Foundation, and assists in the marine mammal rescue programme. Stephen has written more than 37 natural history books for children, and he contributes to various magazines and local newspapers.
Présentation de l'éditeur :
"Kingfisher Voyages" take the reader (the 'voyager') on a fantastic, interactive journey of discovery. Using acetates, gatefolds and die-cut pages, in-depth information is presented in a new, exciting and irresistible way. Meet your guides, two real-life shark experts (Valerie and Ron Taylor), who provide their own, unique eyewitness accounts of what it is like to explore the world's underwater environments. Dive through the 'layers' of the sea, from the sunlit zone, through the twilight zone, until finally reaching the abyss. Visit the seabed to find out more about the plants, animals and ghostly shipwrecks that can be found there. Along the way, peer through die-cut portholes inside the Titanic, lift the acetate to reveal the inside of a submarine and use the divider tabs to move easily from one chapter to the next. The journey ends with the as yet unexplored regions of the ocean.
