No artist has so dominated country music as Webb Pierce. Most Nashville stars credit their musical inspirations to Hank, Lefty and Webb. Born in 1926 in Louisiana, Webb was the first artist to dress in rhinestone suits, and with gaudy showmanship he built the first guitar-shaped swimming pool and drove cars studded in silver dollars. For eight years he was voted the number one country singer, and only Webb Pierce can claim 69 hit songs in a row. Shortly before his death in 1991, Webb personally created, from rare film performances, this compilation of his greatest hits, narrating and providing background on the songs, writers and their origins.
