Taffy E. Raphael is a professor of literacy education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Elisabeth Trost-Shahata taught in the Chicago Public Schools for 12 years and is now a bilingual/ESL specialist for the district. Catherine M. Weber is an assistant professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University.
