Library Technology Reports vo.52/No.2 Feb. 2016 Learning management system (LMS) embedded librarianship is partnering with faculty to deliver research assistance for students right in the LMS course sites. This issue of Library Technology Reports (vol. 52, no.2), "Learning Management Systems: Tools for Embedded Librarianship," describes the LMS environment alongside the larger online resource environment of academic libraries. Topics include options for adding digital collections and finding tools; methods for creating course-specific content; and online tools for communication, collaboration, and citing sources. The trend of LMS embedded librrians is considered, as well as underlying principles of universal design, instructional design, accessibility, and copyright.

John J. Burke is the Director of the Gardner-Harvey Library and a past president of the Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO). He has held positions in systems, reference, and public service and was program director for a web-based associate degree in library technology at the University of Cincinnati – Raymond Walters College. He is author of three books, including The Neal-Schuman Library Technology Companion: A Basic Guide for Library Staff, now in its fifth edition.
Beth E. Tumbleson is assistant director of the Gardner-Harvey Library, on the Middletown regional campus of Miami University (Ohio). She earned her M.S. in library science from Simmons School of Library Science, M.A. in church history from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and B.A. in English and French from Dickinson College. Throughout her career, she has worked as an academic, school, and corporate librarian. She has co-authored book chapters and journal articles.
The authors have presented on embedded librarianship at various national, state and regional conferences including ACRL, LOEX, and the LITA National Forum.
