Set of three spiral bound sketchbooks and one paperback volume of text. The sketchbooks are high-quality facsimiles of the originals produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in conjunction with an exhibit, "Jackson Pollock: Early Sketchbooks and Drawings", held Oct. 22, 1997-Feb. 8, 1998. The accompanying volume includes general background on the sketchbooks, which date from 1937 to 1941, and two scholarly articles: "Pollock Interprets the Old Masters: Sketchbooks I and II" and "Pollock Studies the Mexican Muralists and The Surrealists: Sketchbook III".

Three facsimile sketchbooks and one volume of text, set into three trays, housed in brown cloth clamshell case. A sumptuously produced facsimile, in a luxurious presentation. The sketchbooks cover Pollock's early years, 1937-1941, and contain 71 sheets total, in full, vivid color. Accurately reproduced from the Met's originals. 525 copies were produced, of which 500 were for sale. This is number 394. The clamshell case is still in the original white paper wrap, unopened, and housed in the original cardboard shipping box with the Met's details and number. Outer cardboard shipping box has one bumped corner, not affecting contents in any way. Otherwise, the entire assemblage is pristine.
