Noe-Cyprien Cyr was 12 years old when he first impressed Irenee Gagnon enough to give `Louis' a job helping wood-cutters - the year was 1875, the locale - Saint-Cyprien, Quebec. In the 40 years of his life Louis went on to become a showman and won many strength competitions. 101 pages plus appendix. TEXT assisted by 8 b/w plates. Read more about : Hector Decarie, clean-and-jerk, military-press, Marquis of Queensberry, Sainte-Cunegonde, Otto Ronaldo, barbells, Oscar Matthes, and Melina Comtois. Cond : Paper wrapper is rust-coloured with white (and black) lettering. Front cover (photo)graphic shows a statue of Lois in competition attire gazing into the future. Hinges slightly rubbed. Light chipping at some corners and edges. Not faded. Square, binding tight. Name of p/o on half-title. No marks, creases, nor tears. Sticker pull. Very good reading copy Quote (p. 25) : " In one hour, the horse will be back; you must unhitch him and harness him to your wagon.
