Description du livre Broschiert. Etat : Gut. 68 S. : zahlr. Ill. ; 27 cm Umschlag minimal fleckig, innen gut und sauber / Cover minimally stained, inside good and clean - INTRODUCTION -- THE MARGARET M. AND ARTHUR J. MOUROT COLLECTION -- It is of some interest to note that eighteenth-century porcelains from England and China have been especially favored by American collectors. Comparatively few collections of German porcelain have been assembled in this country. Yet the significance of Meissen porcelain within the complex framework of the European decorative arts is undeniable. For this reason, the group of early Meissen porcelains brought together by Dr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Mourot provide a valuable point of reference for visitors to the Virginia Museum. -- The Meissen porcelain from the Mourot Collection illustrated in this catalogue, with but a few exceptions, dates from the first half-century of the factory history, 1710 to 1760. Certain types of decoration am form were favored at Meissen during this period, and a number of these types are represented in this collection.
