From the introduction - "As an etcher and engraver [Lord Badeley] was of professional standard. His work was regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1911 and 1951 - the last plate being an ex-libris he made for Ingrid, Queen of Denmark. Some of his bookplates and other engraved prints were exhibited, in 1926 and 1947, at the prestigious gallery of P & D. Colnaghi in Bond Street, London, Wl By any comparable standard his bookplates are now significantly underpriced. Badeley's early speciality was bookplates for ladies, and these were shown at the Ex Libris Society's annual exhibitions. Another of his exlibris, the De Lafontaine, his first heraldic plate, was published as the frontispiece to Volume 9 of The Ex Libris Journal (January 1899), whilst in the following year he was subject No.18 in the "Modern Book-Plate Designers" series (Volume 10, pp. 175-6)."
