Biographie de l'auteur :
Grant Neal As a long term performance car enthusiast, it was inevitable that my own personal road would lead eventually to Porsche's door. My introduction (back in the late 1980s) was by way of a 250bhp 944 Turbo. The Porsche bug has stayed with me (with a few exceptions) until the present day! Enthusiastic ownership has allowed me to experience most of the models from the 996 range (over some 6 years) and I am keen to spread the word on these fabulous cars. Combining the practical knowledge gained from ownership along with in-depth research, I am pleased to be working alongside well known Porsche expert Peter Morgan in presenting this Ultimate Guide to the 996 series 911. Peter Morgan has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and trained in the automotive industry. He has written for publication since his teens and became Technical Editor of Porsche Post (the magazine of the Porsche Club Great Britain) in 1981. He was Editor from 1991 to 1994. His first Porsche book, Porsche 911 -- Purchase and DIY Restoration was published in 1987. To date, he has written 18 titles on all aspects of Porsche, including racing, and his books have been translated into seven languages. As a professional journalist, he is a member of the Guild of Motoring Writers and contributes to mainstream motoring magazines worldwide. He offers an independent pre-purchase consultancy for Porsche drivers (www.petermorgan.org.uk)
Présentation de l'éditeur :
The Porsche 911 may been in production for over 40 years, but the modern water-cooled generation share little more than a philosophy with the first examples. Known worldwide by their Porsche internal type number, the 996 models represented a fresh start and offered a new standard in sports car performance and driving satisfaction. This new second edition packs in more specification data. We introduce all the 996 model types, describing the technical specifications, vehicle identification data, performance, colours and options. Using colour photography of the cars and many actual problem areas, we introduce each model and what to look for when choosing and buying a used example.
