This book should be translated into as many languages as possible. Some comments on a first read and practice of self-adjustments: 1/ top quality production and design (unusual binding but it feels like it will last) 2/ clear and precise writing with abundant and excellent photographs. 3/ will be beneficial to anyone training or teaching within any of the yoga schools and traditions which are hatha yoga based. Congratulations to Brian (and everyone who helped) on a great achievement. Namaste, Paul --Paul: Yoga teacher - Ireland
"I am honoured to write the foreword for Yoga: The Art of Adjusting. The detailed art of adjusting Yoga postures has been accomplished in this book in a loving and practical format. It also comes at a fortuitous moment. With the rapid increase of Yoga teachers all over the globe during the last few years, greater understanding of the art of adjusting has been missing in the printed form. I think Brian Cooper has done an excellent job of covering the key points of adjusting most of the postures of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. He clearly explains the main focus of each posture, the direction to take with each posture and eventually how to learn to do each posture unaided without an adjustment. The visual aspects of each posture are conveyed precisely in a step-by-step format giving the reader practical insight into the wonderful art of touch. Enjoy!" --Foreword by Matthew Sweeney
The ancient art and science of yoga is as powerful now as it was thousands of years ago. Unlocking its secrets requires patience, perseverance and intense study. After three decades, Brian continues on his path of exploration and discovery. He teaches directly from his personal experience and studies. He lives at his retreat centre which was established as a haven of peace and tranquility, where the timeless teachings of pure Hatha Yoga can be transmitted unfettered by the usual constraints of everyday living. He also runs teacher training courses for Yoga Alliance UK, which is dedicated to setting and maintaining high standards of teaching yoga in Britain and Europe. Brian has dedicated much time to teaching the benefits of Thai Massage for teachers and students of yoga. These interests have resulted in his new book The Art of Adjusting written specifically for yoga teachers.
