This is the inside story of Oxford s last iron foundry, the Eagle Iron Works in Jericho, and its transformation into an international but still family-run electrical switchgear company and one of Oxford s largest property developers. A real slice of Oxford life from the time of Waterloo to literary connections with Philip Pullman s Lyra s Oxford, and Inspector Morse, to today s canal-side regeneration. With over 150 full colour and fascinating illustrations, paintings and photographs.
Co-author Mike Hobbs is a freelance writer and journalist. He has had almost 20 books published, including co-writing Max Your Brain (with James Harrison) and The Little Book of Take That (as in the band). In addition he has been copywriting for business clients for 20 years. During his spare time he writes screenplays, and once allegedly told his wife to shoot him if ever he said he was going to write a novel. She missed. He is writing a novel.
