9780957297050: House of Pigs (The ordinary)

2013 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award Finalist, Horror.

Christopher Ritchie shows he's a skilful writer, with his 'The ordinary' a 2015 IndieFab Awards SILVER WINNER.

A world where nothing is as it seems.

SURREY LIFE magazine: "This brain-twister of a novel, by horror author Christopher Ritchie, has won plenty of acclaim and deservedly so as he takes the reader on a frightening, disturbing journey that tests the imagination, pushing it beyond the limits of 'normal'.

When officer Joe Gullidge is sent on a routine police call, the situation rapidly descends into a sequence of horrifically unsettling events that eat into the very depths of his soul. As 'Gully' is dragged into a reluctant search for the truth, his conscious mind struggles to separate reality from the suggestion of a parallel world. Is Gully's journey a metaphor for the deeper reality of an inescapable past - or is the explanation more straightforward than it initially appears?

House of Pigs doesn't fall into the 'easy read' category given the complexity of its ideas and multiple layers of interpretation - but these are strengths not weaknesses. This is a grippingly surreal novel with an edgy narrative and visual touches reminiscent of Stephen King's The Shining."

Horror Novel Reviews: "Needs to be read to even begin to grasp Ritchie’s vision. His alternate worlds... may throw you for an entertaining loop."

Rebbie Reviews: "will horrify you with some really gritty and gory events... I love the imagery and the pace."

About the Author :

2015 BOOK AWARD WINNER 2013 BOOK AWARD FINALIST Christopher Ritchie: "I've always been a writer, as long as I can remember. Writing short stories as a child, irritating my teachers with overly long descriptive passages, and attempting to translate my talent for mischief onto the page. Thirty or so years later, I wrote a book, and then another one. Now I'm the kind of person who gets taken away by things - by TV shows, movies, books, videogames... I get lost in these worlds. I love getting lost in them. They fuel my imagination, they inform my dreams, and they open my mind to infinite possibilities. And so my debut offering, House of Pigs, is genuinely the product of two dreams, one a nightmare. I woke up and started writing. Thirty eight years of influences, experiences and ideas came together. Light in the darkness. Redemption. Horror. The unknown. The things that scare me in my nightmares are now committed to paper and binary code. A little while after that, I wrote the award-winning (IndieFab Book of the Year Silver Award for Horror) The ordinary. It's a dark satire that explores the global spread of fear via a rampant media. Gallows humour, epic scale, and - well, read the reviews for yourself. I hope you enjoy my work. These books were immensely fun to write. Slowly I am creating a world for other people to lose themselves in and, hopefully, get a little bit scared just as I did. My next novel, Nuclear Rock, should be out some time in 2017. Thanks for reading."

Description du livre GB Publishing.org. Paperback. État : New. Paperback. 188 pages. Dimensions: 7.9in. x 5.2in. x 0.6in.A dark mystery novel, a surreal journey where only the unseen know the truth, a truth that Joe didnt know he needed to find until his world was turned inside out. As he uncovers the disturbing connections between his own murky past and those who hunt him, he has no choice but to follow the leads to a dire conclusion. Published in 2013, Christopher Ritchies debut novel House Of Pigs has gained international recognition, as one of only 12 international finalists in the ForeWord Reviews 2013 Book Of The Year Awards (BOTYA), Horror Category. The author is a writer and musician based near London. Just as Denis Wheatley, Stephen King and Clive Barker successfully unnerve me, so does Christopher Ritchie, a debut writer on the illusory paranormal scene, with his opening chapters of House of Pigs revealing dire, dream-like, eerily dividing zones. Concern grows for his central character Joe, cop turned fugitive, as he desperately tries to grasp whats happening to him in a surreal, ever-changing world. Worth the read for horror, mystery, fantasy fans Definitely. Brenda Marsh, writereditor. This item ships from multiple locations. Your book may arrive from Roseburg,OR, La Vergne,TN. Paperback.
