Description du livre Paperback. Etat : Fine. Unread store shelf copy with just a touch of wear to covers. Fletcher Benton: The Purpose of Harmony by Carter Ratcliff Born in Jackson, Ohio, in 1931, Benton received his B.F.A. in painting from Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, in 1956. By the late 1950s, he was living in San Francisco, painting and teaching would-be painters at the California College of Arts and Crafts, in Oakland. He exhibited his work widely in Bay Area galleries and museums. A relentless experimenter, he carved figures from balsa wood and attached them to the surface of his canvases. These led to more figures, freed from the canvas now, and set in motion by small, battery-powered motors. Nude and female, one of them swung on a trapeze. Another rode a unicycle.
