Ramsey Clark was the U.S. Attorney General during the Lyndon Johnson administration, an international attorney, and a human rights advocate. He investigated the 1991 coup in Haiti against Aristide as a member of the Haiti Commission and has opposed U.S. military intervention around the world. He is a founder of the International Action Center and author of "Crime in America" and "The Fire This Time." He lives in New York City, New York. Edwidge Danticat is a strong advocate for issues affecting Haitians abroad and at home. She lent her voice and words to "Poto Mitan: Haitian Women Pillars of the Global Economy," a documentary about the impact of globalizaton on five women from different generations. She won the American Book Award for "The Farming of Bones" and is also the author of "Breath, Eyes, Memory," "Behind the Mountains," and "Brother, I'm Dying." She lives in Miami, Florida. Frederick Douglass was a major African American orator, writer, and leader of the abolitionist movement in the 19th century. He was a significant political figure and the first U.S. diplomatic representative to Haiti in the 1880s. He was the author of "My Bondage and My Freedom "and "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave." Ben Dupuy is secretary general of Haiti's National Popular Party (PPN). He was ambassador-at-large for President Aristide's government from 19911993. Paul Laraque is a poet and essayist on political and cultural affairs. He was the founder and secretary general of the Association of Haitian Writers Abroad and a leading member of the Haitian Patriotic Action Movement. He is the author of "Fistibal, Open Gate, "and "Solda Mawon.""
