Biographie de l'auteur :
Dr Nick Walton is Shakespeare Courses Development Manager at The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, where he devises and delivers programmes of study for school and university students, as well as for members of the general public. Nick obtained his MA and PhD from the Shakespeare Institute, and has taught at the Universities of Warwick and Reading. As Executive Secretary to the International Shakespeare Association he helped organise the Eighth and Ninth World Shakespeare Congresses in Brisbane (2006) and Prague (2011) respectively. He regularly reviews Shakespearian productions and publications, and he has written introductory material for the Penguin editions of Timon of Athens and Love s Labour s Lost, as well as contributing a chapter on Glen Byam Shaw to the book Director s Shakespeare, and an entry in the forthcoming Cambridge World Shakespeare Encyclopaedia on Shakespeare Societies. Nick works closely with The Royal Shakespeare Company and in 2009 recorded a stage history of Hamlet for the BBC. He has performed in Shakespeare s plays on stage and screen, and was invited in 2010 to Boston USA to deliver lectures and workshops to run alongside the Actors Shakespeare Project s production of Timon of Athens. He returned to Boston in 2012 to work with Tina Packer on her production of Troilus and Cressida for the same company. Nick has been a guest speaker at the British Museum, Central School of Speech and Drama, The Siegfried Sassoon Fellowship, the Athenaeum in Boston, and the National Theatre, London. His passion for Shakespeare has led to invitations to speak on all matters Shakespearian in Budapest, Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida. Christopher Lloyd was born in Dorking, England, in 1968. He became a scholar of History at Peterhouse Cambridge and was awarded a double first class honours degree. He then joined The Sunday Times as Technology and Innovation Editor in 1990. In 1996 he launched the first Internet Editions of The Times and The Sunday Times before becoming editorial director of LineOne, an online service jointed owned by News International and BT. In January 2000, Chris left journalism to become CEO of Oxford-based educational publishing company Immersive Education. Then, in 2005, he and his wife began home educating their two children. In 2006 the whole family went on a four month Grand Tour of Europe in a campervan. It was during this trip that Chris came up with the idea of a holistic world history that would reconnect natural and human history into a single illustrated narrative. What on Earth Happened? The Complete Story of Planet, Life and People form The Big Bang to the Present Day was published by Bloomsbury in 2008. It has since been translated into 15 languages worldwide. A sequel called What on Earth Evolved? 100 Species that Changed the World (also published by Bloomsbury) traces the story of life on Earth from its origins to the present day. In February 2010 Chris launched his own publishing company, What on Earth Publishing Ltd, a collaboration between Chris and Beckenham based illustrator Andy Forshaw. The company's first product, The What on Earth? Wallbook, was published in October 2010. It is an innovative and detailed illustrated history of the world from the beginning of time to the present day displayed on a 2.3 metre long timeline that can be read like a book or hung on a wall. The What on Earth? Wallbook of Shakespeare is now the fifth Wallbook in the series. Chris gives cross curricular talks all over the world in schools, museums and literary festivals. Chris can be contacted at chris@whatonearthbooks.com
