Afficher les exemplaires de cette édition ISBNJazz Theory is designed for those with no previous study in jazz as well as those students in advanced theory courses. The textbook is organized into three parts: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced, working in a single-semester curriculum or in one with multiple terms. If students sense that theory can facilitate their improvisational skills or can help them develop their ears, they become more engaged in the learning process. The overall pedagogical structure accomplishes precisely that in an original, creative, and―above all―musical manner.
Dariusz Terefenko is Associate Professor of Jazz and Contemporary Media at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. He is on the NASM (National Association for Schools of Music) steering committee that has been working on designing jazz theory curriculum standards, and has presented papers at numerous Music Theory and Jazz Theory conferences.
