This subject list consists of two parts: (a) A general alphabet of subject headings, with entries in chronological order of the works arranged under these headings ;( )a Key, or a summary of these headings shown in class order. Under each of these headings the searcher will find entries of all works in theL ibrary which are exclusively devoted to the subject of that heading. For instance, special treatises onS toves and Grates will be found in the general alphabet (pp. 132-135) under that heading. Should the reader require further information on the subject he must refer to the Key (p. loo), where he will find Heating and Ventilating buildings Stoves and Grates. See also Cooking Stoves andR anges ;[G reenhouses, etc.]. The headings, therefore, Heating and Ventilating Buildings, and Cooking Stoves andR anges, are those which should next be consulted.
