This edition has been carefully revised throughout, but the greater part of the new matter introduced will be found in the Chapter on Supply and Demand, and in the Book treating of Labour and Capital in A lliance. In the first of these, which has been completely recast and almost completely rewritten, certain peculiar notions of mine are resubmitted, with explanations and amplifications, in a form in which I am quite content that final judgment should be passed upon them. The other, to which one whole chapter has been added, and several minor additions have been made, presents a certainly sincere and, as I hope, a fairly comprehensive view of the facts and principles of industrial cooperation. During the process of revision, I. have received considerable aid from critics both friendly and hostile. A mong the former I have the satisfaction of being able to name the Fortnightly, in which Mr.
