This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. " L'Unique et sa Propriété ", dès sa publication en 1844, suscite un grand intérêt populaire et politique, notamment dans la polémique qu'il engage avec la gauche hégélienne, l'humanisme de Feuerbach et le communisme. Il sombre ensuite dans l'oubli. Stirner y proclame que les religions et les idéologies se fondent avant tout sur des superstitions. Il considère le nationalisme, l'étatisme, le libéralisme, le socialisme, le communisme ou encore l'humanisme comme des superstitions. Paradoxalement la féroce polémique engagée par Marx à l'encontre de L'Unique et sa Propriété en fait une lecture incontournable pour qui veut comprendre le marxisme. La critique de Stirner est en effet considérée comme décisive dans la conversion de Marx de l'idéalisme au matérialisme, dans son détachement de la philosophie humaniste de Feuerbach ainsi que dans sa rupture définitive avec le " socialisme utopique ".
