Excerpt from A Catalogue of Rare Dutch Pamphlets Relating to New-Netherland and to the Dutch West-and East-India Companies and to Its Possessions in Brazil, Angolo, Etc
When Mr. Asher in 1867 published his Bibliographical and Historical Essay containing the titles of 357 pamphlets bearing on the history of new-nether land, the west-india Company etc., he had examined more than 27000 pamphlets, which all had been published between 1600-1664, the period of the rise, the decline and fall of the Company which founded new-netherland, and whose history is therefore so much valued by the student of early American History.
