Jeff Goodwin is Professor of Sociology at New YorkUniversity. He is the author of No Other Way Out: States andRevolutionary Movements, 1945 1991 (2001) and ChoosingTerror (2010).

James M. Jasper is Professor of Sociology at the GraduateCenter of the City University of New York. He has written manybooks, including The Animal Rights Crusade (1992), TheArt of Moral Protest (1997), and Getting Your Way(2006).

Together they have edited Passionate Politics: Emotions andSocial Movements (with Francesca Polletta) (2001), TheSocial Movements Reader (2003), Rethinking Social Movements:Structure, Culture, and Emotion (2004), Social Movements:Critical Concepts in Sociology (2007), and The ContextsReader (2007).
